For the past several weeks I have found myself going back and forth on one question. I have spent plenty of time thinking, drinking tea, and reflecting on where Nebraska Pagans is headed. As the colder months of winter begin to settle in, I keep asking myself if it is time to take this community to the next level by launching a podcast. The idea started as something simple, but the more I think about it, the more I see the possibilities. Before making that commitment, I want to hear from the people who matter most, the readers, event organizers, shop owners, educators, and practitioners who make this community what it is.
Building a Podcast for the Nebraska Pagan Community
My first goal would be to keep things local and practical. I would love to provide regular event listings from across Nebraska, helping people find festivals, markets, classes, rituals, and gatherings that they may not have known about. We have many wonderful events taking place throughout the year, but it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with everything happening across the state.
A podcast could also become a place where local businesses receive more attention. There are talented shop owners creating handcrafted items, herbal products, candles, artwork, jewelry, books, and other spiritual tools that deserve recognition. Giving these businesses an opportunity to tell their stories could help strengthen the local Pagan economy while introducing listeners to new places they may want to visit.
Another idea is interviewing community educators. Nebraska has many knowledgeable people willing to teach about history, traditions, herbs, divination, meditation, energy work, seasonal celebrations, and many other subjects. Sharing those conversations could help newcomers feel welcome while giving experienced practitioners new perspectives to consider.
Your Voice Should Help Shape the Show
While I have plenty of ideas, this is not intended to become a podcast that only reflects my interests. Nebraska is a large state with many different communities. What someone in Omaha wants to hear may be completely different from someone living in Kearney, Scottsbluff, North Platte, Grand Island, or Norfolk. Every area has its own traditions, gatherings, and experiences.
That is why I am asking for your feedback before recording the first episode. What topics interest you? Would you enjoy interviews with local practitioners? Do you want more coverage of upcoming festivals and vendor markets? Are there authors, artists, musicians, or spiritual teachers you would like me to invite onto the show? Would shorter weekly episodes fit your schedule better than longer monthly conversations?
I also want the podcast to be welcoming for people who are simply curious. Whether someone has practiced for decades or is just beginning to learn about Pagan traditions, everyone should feel comfortable listening and participating in the conversation. Respectful discussion and sharing knowledge have always helped communities grow stronger.
As winter approaches, many of us naturally spend more time indoors reflecting, reading, learning, and planning for the coming seasons. That makes this feel like the right time to begin something new that brings people together across Nebraska.
